On Mariannengasse in Vienna's Alsergrund district, in the former home of psychiatrist and neurologist Viktor Frankl, the Viktor Frankl Museum commemorates the life and work of the Holocaust survivor. It was here that Frankl developed logotherapy over the decades, a form of psychotherapy that places the search for meaning at its centre.

A Life Between Trauma and the Search for Meaning

The exhibition tells the story of a man who survived the Theresienstadt, Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps and drew on that experience to write his best known work, "Man's Search for Meaning". Personal belongings, documents and recordings offer an intimate look at Frankl's thinking and work.

Understanding Logotherapy

Interactive stations explain the fundamentals of logotherapy, making Frankl's ideas accessible even to visitors with no prior knowledge. The small, personally curated museum lies just a short walk from the Rathaus subway station.
