Schloss Litschau: A Historic Jewel in the Northern Waldviertel

In the far north of the Waldviertel, near the border with the Czech Republic, lies Schloss Litschau, owned by the Seilern-Aspang family since 1763. The castle's defensive tower dates back to medieval origins, while the present day complex carries mainly baroque and neoclassical features.

A Castle in Family Hands

Unlike many Austrian castles, Litschau is not continuously open to the public but is lived in and managed by the family. On certain occasions, however, the castle opens its doors for guided tours, culinary events and festivals, giving visitors a personal look at the house's history and daily life.

A Farm Shop and Regional Products

The castle's own farm shop sells produce from the estate's agriculture, a piece of living tradition in the middle of the Waldviertel. Schloss Litschau sits in the centre of the town of Litschau, surrounded by the region's characteristic lakes and forests.
