Musikverein Vienna: A Temple of Music

The Golden Hall

At the heart of the Musikverein is the Great Hall, known as the Golden Hall, whose acoustics are considered among the finest for classical music in the world. Its richly decorated ceiling, golden caryatids and tiered seating also make it one of Europe's most magnificent concert halls.

Stage of the New Year's Concert

The Golden Hall gained worldwide fame as the stage of the Vienna Philharmonic's annual New Year's Concert, broadcast live to numerous countries since 1959. The Musikverein sits just a short walk from the Vienna State Opera, easily reached via the U1 or U2 subway lines to Karlsplatz.
