Museum Niederösterreich: Nature and History in the Cultural District

In St. Pölten's cultural district, Museum Niederösterreich unites two very different houses under one roof, the House for Nature and the House of History. Together, they form one of the most comprehensive museum complexes in the state.

The House for Nature

Inside the House for Nature, an interactive museum and a living zoo combine, with around 40 native animal species housed in aquariums, terrariums, and an ant house. Visitors can watch fish and other aquatic life up close through the glass of the tanks, a particularly popular experience for families with children.

The House of History

The neighboring House of History is dedicated to the past of Lower Austria from the Middle Ages to the present, with a focus on the state's political, social, and cultural development. Rotating special exhibitions complement the permanent collection with current historical themes.

Part of the Cultural District

Together with the Festspielhaus and the state theater, Museum Niederösterreich forms the cultural heart of St. Pölten's cultural district. For families and history enthusiasts alike, the house offers a diverse outing that combines nature experience with historical education.
