Haus der Natur: Salzburg's Hands-On Natural History Museum

Haus der Natur ranks among Austria's most significant natural history museums. It pairs scientific knowledge with interactive experiences, creating a platform that combines education, entertainment and research, with exhibits ranging from the underwater world to the depths of space.

Dinosaurs, an Aquarium and Outer Space

In the dinosaur hall, prehistoric eras become tangible, with life sized models and fossils offering insight into deep history. The aquarium presents a collection of marine and freshwater life, from tropical coral reefs to native waters. In the space exhibition, models of space probes and interactive simulations bring the vastness of the universe within reach, complemented by a replica moon crater tracing the history of space travel.

A Science Center Built for Doing

The Science Center puts interactivity front and centre, with numerous experiment stations inviting visitors to explore natural phenomena hands on. Since its founding in 1924, the museum has contributed to scientific education across more than 35 exhibitions spanning 7,000 square metres, working closely with universities along the way.

Practical Information

Haus der Natur is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Admission costs 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children aged 4 to 15, with family tickets also available.
